So … what is Front-end Development?
Front-end development is the task of producing the code that generates the web page you’re looking at right now. Typically we use a combination of HTML, CSS, JavaScript (jQuery) and images and other media to produce templates for:
- A simple static web page(s) * or website
- A WordPress theme
- Integration into another Content Management System
- A web application
- An email marketing campaign
- A mobile website or application
HTML, CSS and JavaScript templates
It’s where we started and it’s where we’ve come back to … Stomp Box has been busting our guts writing standards-compliant, clean, cross-browser compatible HTML and CSS since the early 2000′s.
Now in 2012 – front-end development is again at the forefront – the mobile web explosion, the awesome power of the modern web browsers and the evolution of technology such as HTML5, CSS3 and jQuery Mobile makes for front-end being a very exciting development space right now.
We’ve put together literally hundreds of web sites, landing pages, web application interfaces, email templates and static sites over the years … and we like to think we’re pretty good at it.

* Note that this service is often called “PSD-to-HTML” – this is because usually the provided source design file is an Adobe Photoshop file (file extension PSD) — and essentially the job is to build an HTML version of the provided design.
Also a note to any fellow boffins out there reading this, no doubt going “tsk, tsk, tsk” at us for just saying jQuery, rather than JavaScript: before you get all hot under the collar, yes – we know that jQuery is not JavaScript … and that JavaScript is not jQuery – we understand that, but frankly not many clients do. In fact, to many people the terms “jQuery” and “JavaScript” are more-or-less interchangeable.
