We’re very excited to see the release of the long-awaited WooCommerce plugin from WooThemes.
This is likely to be a game-changer in WordPress E Commerce. Starting today there is a very slick, full-featured Ecommerce plugin for WordPress, which works directly with a number of beautiful WordPress themes. Also, WooTheme’s flagship WordPress theme (the “blank-slate” Canvas — our favourite WooTheme) gets an upgrade to support WooCommerce, so it’s now a lot easier to get going building a totally custom WordPress website, with a beautiful Store and Shopping cart.
Oh, and it’s free.
WooCommerce Theme
Well.. sort of. The plugin itself is free, however as you would expect the WooCommerce-ready themes and numerous extensions do attract extra charges, but it is possible to get a basic WooCommerce store up and running for very little outlay. The extensions range from adding payment gateways (only PayPal is standard) to adding extra shipping calculation functions.
We’re very excited about this development at Stomp Box, as we get many requests to build E Commerce webites with WordPress, but we’ve just never been quite 100% happy with the options available to bring this kind of functionality into WordPress. Today, it seems that has changed.
We’re hoping to showcase a WooCommerce-powered store in the near future as we get stuck into a project we’ve had waiting in the wings for this very day. Stay tuned.
